Virtual Tours

Compile a list of as many places as you can which allow you to take a virtual tour.

Write an interesting and engaging review of virtual tours online.

A review should:
  • explain what happens on a virtual tour
  • mention highlights on the tours
  • give an overall opinion of virtual tours online (strengths and weaknesses)
  • mention specific virtual tours you have looked at as examples
  • include hyperlinks to the virtual tours you mention
200 words minimum

Google Maps
New Zealand Parliament
Cities
Museums
Universities

Review:

Virtual Tours are like a simulation that makes you feel like you are somewhere you are not. Virtual tours are an amazing feature to technology that lets you explore a building or city. There are some bad things about it though, its sometimes lags badly, it is sometimes 2D and it can be fake meaning that its not really what the place looks like. Sometimes it is a very accurate tour and it can be in 3D which gives you a very good idea of what the building or city looks like.

One of the best virtual tours I have been on is the Monster MIlk Truck, it lets you drive around the world in a milk truck and do any tricks and other stuff that you want.

Although its a little bit glitchy and its sometimes 2D depending of whether you have good internet connection or not, it is a great game and it fills spare time with a little fun. If you want to play the Monster Milk Truck game go to this link but beware you need the google earth plug-in to play this game.

Life ED Movie

Sound quality: voice volumes, background noise, distracting sounds
Our voices were a little bit quiet but you could hear our voices clearly.
Camera skill: steadiness of the camera, effects, angles, locations, lighting

Acting: robotic performance, realistic acting skills, script genuiness, speed of replies, facial expressions, looking at the camera, tone, FAKENESS
It was pretty realistic and nobody looked at the camera.
Editing: flow in the cut scenes, transitions, music effects
The flow was crisp.
Poem: time, quality of the poem, scrolling speed, voiceover, poem is relevant to the movie content
I think our poem had a nice time on it but I think only one person should have read it instead of two people.
Quality of the life education message in your movie (the Script): realism, was it a good message?
I think it tells you that you should't smoke but it could of been a better message.
Teamwork: all team members were working equally, nobody excluded, everyone had a role, everyone had a choice, how your group solved problems
I think we worked well as a team, everybody got a say in what we did and we solved our problems easily.

Overall I would rate our movie 7/10

What does centre of enlargement mean?

What is a scale factor?

Life Education

Life Education was a great opportunity to learn about the many things involved with puberty and drugs. Michaels main focus was to help us delay the decision on doing drugs until we have finished puberty and our brain has completed its developing.

We had a few acronyms:

Memory
Reason
Judgment
Mechanical Skills
Intellect
Concentration
Emotions

Delay
The
Decision

Faster
Absorption
Rate

We learned about the following drugs:

UPPERS:
Steroids, Meth, Cocaine, Ecstasy, PCP, Speed, Caffeine.

ALL ROUNDERS:
Marijuana, LSD, Glue, Petrol, Magic Mushrooms.

DOWNERS:
Alcohol, Heroin.

Drug Poem

Ya’ll know that drugs are bad
That they can make you go mad
If you start on glue, everybody will go ewww
Then they will preasure you into to doing worst things
Like Weed, Ecstacy and the mighty old Meth
Meth can cause death
Don’t do drugs
It’s for thugs

NZ Flag

1) What do these symbols on our flag stand for?

a) Blue background = The Sea and the Sky.

b) Stars = Southern Cross

c) Union Jack = The treaty of Waitangi.

2) Name the 3 flags of the 3 countries which are combined to make the Union Jack = England, Scotland and Ireland.

3) When did we first use this NZ flag ? = 1902.

4) What flag did we use from 1840 until then?

5) From 1834 to 1840 we used the United Tribes Flag. Insert an image of this flag.

6) Who kept chopping down the flagpole in Kororareka? Why?

7) What are the other official flags of NZ. Who are they used

for/when are they used?

Insert an image of the National Maori Flag. When did this flag first fly officially?

8)# Now you understand the basics of our present flag, work on a design for the flag you feel NZ should have.
Insert your image.

Think about:

*what flags of other countries look like

*which icons are important to New Zealanders

*is your flag representative of our society

*the colours and what they represent

*what will go in the top left corner -the most clearly seen part of the flag even when there is no wind and the flag hangs down.

*how the rest of the world will identify NZ from this flag

Rotational Symmetry

Translations: Rotational Symmetry
  1. Go through the MyiMaths lesson doing all of the activities Myimaths-Shape-Symmetry-Rotational Symmetry
  2. Create a blog post: Title: Rotational Symmetry Label: Maths
  3. Answer these questions
  1. In your own words explain what rotational symmetry is. Rotational Symmetry is where a shape can rotate and be the same as it was when you started.
  2. A shape has an order of rotational symmetry of 2. What does this mean?A rotational symmetry of 2 is where the shape can be exactly the same twice through out the 360˚ turn.
  3. How is rotational symmetry different from line symmetry?  In rotational symmetry if a turn of 180˚ or less produces an image that fits exactly on the original and in line symmetry the shape can be mirrored.
  4. What do you do to check if a shape has rotational symmetry? You rotate it.
  5. Find pictures of 3 real life objects which have rotational symmetry (not shapes, objects e.g. foods, logos) and paste them into your post

Complete this table
If a shape has rotational symmetry of order 3, how many degrees would it rotate to match itself? Answer = 120 degrees

Order
Degrees of rotation to match its shape
2
180˚
3
120˚
4
90˚
5
72˚
10
36˚

  1. Do the Mathopolis quiz and record your score
7/10

  1. Create an amazing design with the order of symmetry = 5 using symmetry artist. Screenshot and add it to your blog post.

  1. Worksheets at the front of the room. Glue into your maths book and write the date and learning intention. (see Miss Campbell for a mini lesson on how to do the grid worksheet)

a. Rotational Symmetry is where a shape can rotate and be the same as it was when you started.
b. A rotational symmetry of 2 is where the shape can be exactly the same twice through out the 360˚ turn.
c. In rotational symmetry if a turn of 180˚ or less produces an image that fits exactly on the original and in line symmetry the shape can be mirrored.
d. You rotate it.
